I hate to keep putting questions about the Thursday game up on the Sunday game's thread (someone needs to make a thread for the Thursday game), but is DnD Insider content allowed? I was thinking of getting a subscription to DnD Insider, and I just want to make sure.
Also, due to a change in schedule, I will be able to go next Thursday.

Yes you can use Insider information in all of the games that I run.

Yet another question concerning the Thursday game (should I be the one to start the new thread regarding the Thursday game, if no one else will?): How much liberty do we have for designing fluff (i.e. roleplay, background, etc.; I'm not asking for homebrew mechanics) for our characters? Like, perhaps we could say our character is from a certain place we made up (if we use it for our mechanical background, we could take mechanics that would make sense from an official background) or worships a certain god we made up (for mechanical purposes, treat the god as the same as an official god as far as prerequisites and similar things go). I'm asking not so much for my current character as much as for backup characters I'm making in case my character dies more than twice or I get tired of playing him.

The Game that we are currently playing on Thursday is taking place within the Nentir Vale (the base 4.0 setting). I would prefer that backgrounds come from this setting for now. This includes every non-campaign book for 4.0
